Hail Damage Repair (PDR) in McKinney, Plano & Frisco | Dent

Hail damage repair in McKinney, TX (also serving Plano and Frisco) is never something anyone plans for—but North Texas storms can leave dents and dings in minutes. If your car, truck, or SUV was hit, Dent Tech is the local team you can trust for auto hail repair that restores your vehicle’s appearance and protects your factory finish—often faster and more affordably than you might expect.

When hail damage occurs, there are two main repair options: traditional body repair and Paintless Dent Repair (PDR). In most cases, hail damage can be repaired with PDR, which typically takes less time and avoids fillers and repainting. When performed by experienced technicians, PDR can save you both time and money while delivering a clean, high-quality result.

Below are real examples of vehicles with major hail damage that were restored with our 5-star service. For a closer look at how the process works, watch the step-by-step video at the bottom of this page to see dents virtually “erased” using our professional tools and proven techniques.

Guide for Repairing Your Hail Damaged Car

Dent Tech Auto Hail Repair created this guide to answer the most common questions about hail damage repair. We know vehicle damage is a hassle—so we take that hassle off your plate. Use the information below to learn more about the process, and if you have any additional questions, just give us a call. One of our knowledgeable team members will be happy to walk you through your repair. You can also download and print this guide using the link below.

       1. Assess the damage to your vehicle

  • If the damage seems minor, call us to schedule a visual inspection so we can determine the extent of the hail damage.
  • If you can clearly see dents on the hood, roof, or trunk, it’s time to file an insurance claim.
  • If the damage is severe (shattered glass or holes in the windshield/rear glass), do not drive your vehicle for safety reasons. Your insurance company can cover towing to our repair facility.

        2. Filing your claim

  • Your insurance card lists a claims hotline—call that number to start your claim. We generally don’t recommend calling your agent first, since claims representatives handle this process every day and can usually move things along faster. Most insurance companies also want to visually inspect hail damage claims.
  • Your insurance company may suggest one of their “preferred” or direct repair shops. You are not required to use their shop. Texas law allows you to choose the repair facility you want.
  • Many insurers send CAT (catastrophe) teams during major storms. A CAT adjuster may come to your location to inspect your vehicle and write the estimate.
  • Once you receive the insurance estimate, you’re ready to schedule repairs.
  • While you’re on the phone with your claims representative, ask if you have rental coverage. If you do, request they set up the rental reservation and give you the reservation number (and ask them to email it). This helps make drop-off quicker and easier

       3. Dropping off your vehicle for repairs

  • Call the rental car company two days before your drop-off date to confirm everything is set and a vehicle is reserved—this is especially important after large storms when rentals can be limited.
  • When you drop off your vehicle, we only need your insurance estimate. That estimate shows what the insurer has approved, and we’ll inspect your vehicle to see if a supplement is needed.
  • If the insurance estimate missed or underestimated any damage, we’ll submit a supplement to the insurance company. This is common, since adjusters often inspect vehicles outdoors where dents can be easy to miss. Don’t worry—we handle the supplement process for you.

       4. Repair time
Repair time can vary depending on several factors, including:

  • Supplements: If we determine a supplement is needed, we submit it the same day to help reduce delays. Repairs typically cannot begin until the supplement is approved—starting early can risk the insurance company denying the additional amount.
  • Severity of damage: The amount of hail damage will affect how long repairs take, and each vehicle is different.
  • Replacement parts: In some cases, replacing a part is more cost-effective than repairing it. We work with trusted body shops and coordinate repairs to ensure your vehicle is fixed quickly and correctly

       5. Workmanship guarantee

  • Dent Tech provides a Lifetime Warranty on all Paintless Dent Repair (PDR).

       6. Dent Tech vs. a traditional auto body shop

  • PDR is typically much faster than conventional repairs.
  • Deductible savings may be available (ask us for details).
  • Expert technicians: Our techs specialize in Paintless Dent Repair.
  • Keeps your factory finish: PDR preserves your original paint, helping maintain your vehicle’s value.
  • No long wait lists: We work hard to get you scheduled and repaired quickly.
  • Many body shops subcontract PDR work to out-of-town “storm chasing” crews. We work with the same skilled technicians year after year to deliver consistent, high-quality results.

Dent Tech is locally owned and has served North Texas since 1992. We’re trusted by many body shops, dealerships, and insurance companies throughout McKinney, Frisco, Allen, Plano, Sherman, Van Alstye,  Mesquite, Carrollton, Addison, Dallas, and beyond for auto hail repair. We take pride in outstanding customer service and quality workmanship.

Conventional Repair vs PDR

Conventional Repair

When most people think about auto hail damage repair, they picture body shops, collision centers, or dealership repair facilities. These shops often rely on traditional repair methods, which can take longer because of the steps involved:

Traditional Hail Repair Process

  1. Estimate the damage and repair cost
  2. Disassemble the vehicle and order parts if needed
  3. Repair the damaged areas (most of the time with body filler)
  4. Prep, refinish/paint, and cure
  5. Reassemble any removed parts
  6. Detail and clean up
  7. Perform a final inspection

As you can see, traditional hail repair typically includes multiple stages—and often requires repainting. Whenever possible, it’s best to avoid repainting because it can affect your vehicle’s value.

That’s where Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) comes in. With PDR, we can repair most hail damage without repainting any part of your vehicle. Want to know more? What is PDR? See the section below for the answer.

PDR (Paintless Dent Repair)

Auto hail repair in McKinney can be completed much faster—and help protect your vehicle’s value—when it’s done with Paintless Dent Repair (PDR). For a detailed explanation of PDR and how it works, visit our Door Dings Repair page. Here’s the quick version: in most cases, we can repair hail damage without repainting.

Our specially trained technicians use advanced, precision tools and proven techniques to remove dents without sanding, fillers, or paintwork. Because there’s no repainting process, repairs are typically completed much sooner than traditional body shop methods. And with fewer labor hours and materials, PDR can also save you money.

Have an insurance claim? No problem. We work with all insurance companies to help streamline the process and get your vehicle back on the road quickly—with a high-quality repair. Ready to learn more or schedule an appointment? Contact us today.
